UCLA adds Drew Gooden Soldiers point

The big rumor last night in Las Vegas that Dominic Artis had committed to UCLA turned out to be true as the Drew Gooden Soldier and Findlay Prep point is indeed going to be a Bruin.

We were in transit right after his team lost in the second round last night at the Pangos and so we missd his commitment announcement he made to various sources including the Los Angeles Times as they reported below.

"I'm really excited," Artis told the Times. "It could be a great class."

"Of course I would want to start," Artis continued, "but if I had to come off the bench and sacrifice for the team, it would be OK."

Artis has been one of the most consistent of the point guard performers this summer and highlighted his summer leading the Soldiers to the Smi-finals of the Nike Peach Jam earlier this month. He is a quality lead guard who adds immediate depth and a future floor leader for the Bruins.

He chose UCLA over California, Florida State, Oregon, Georgia Tech, Baylor and Florida International.
