2012 Super Soph Camp Top Prospects

Hot100Hoops was in College Park, GA this past weekend at the 2012 Super Soph Camp on the campus of Woodward Academy. Here's our look at the Super Sophs top performers.

Camp Director Clay Dade once again was able to put together a deep and talented group of rising sophomore talents for the 2012 Super Sophs Camp that strutted their stuff on the courts at Woodward Academy, and our own family duo, of Paul and Tyler Swanson, were on hand to catch all the action. Here's their look at the top performers they observed in CollegeTylerJackson Park.

Tyler Jackson 7’0 C ( Pictured ) Naperville, IL Nazareth Academy Huge upper body. Good hands. Moves well for his size. Can step out to 10ft. Shot needs work but he can get it off at that size. Runs floor okay. Needs lower body strength and footwork. Limited lift. Post up strong but has limited moves. Rebounds hard.

Levi Cook 6’10 C Arnett, WV Liberty-Raleigh - Very big body, strong barrel-chested,  competitor who is a solid athlete. He needs to trim some weight to reach his full potential his hands and footwork promise. He blocks shots and is able to step out and shoot ten footer. Good low post scorer with moves.

Skal Labissiere 6’10 C Olive Branch, MS Evangelical Christian - Haiti-native is a very long, wiry-thin, but surprisingly strong power forward/center. Smooth inside scorer can step out and shoot facing up jumper to 12-feet. Runs the floor and rebounds. He needs to add bulk and strength to reach his excellent potential and become an impact level contributor at the high major level.

Daniel Giddens 6’10 PF Powder Springs, GA Marietta Wheeler - Long, strong, athlete who runs the floor, rebounds, and scores in the paint. He has good hands, catches and scores with post moves. His future is facing the basket and can step out to 3-point range. He plays hard at both ends and has a good feel for the game. High majors are watching!

Taron Oliver  6’9 C Washington, DC Bell - Big barrel-chested post player with ok bounce, and foot speed with excellent post skills. He has hands to catch and finish with best at Super Soph. He can also step out and shoot it to 19-feet. Position rebounder who plays to the rim gets it done with effort.

Dusan Kovacevic 6’9 C Rabun Gap, GA High - Serbian-native is a long, strong, skilled, and mentally tough post player with good handles, good post passing skills, and the ability to step out and shoot it to the arc facing the hoop. He runs the floor and knows how to play.

Nick Marshall 6’9 C Lexington, KY High Very long, lean, athletic, front-liner who runs the floor and rebounds. Has raw offensive skills and limited feel for the game. Can block shots. Can step out and face up, but needs to improve shot selection on the perimeter. He has the lots of room to improve, so stay tuned as he develops that upside.

Tyler Davis 6’8 C Plano, TX Frisco Liberty - Very big, strong, live body. Great hands. Quick feet and good lift for his size. Strong rebounder that blocks shots. Can shoot it with 3-point range. Gets to the basket and finishes with contact. Can face up and drive. Excellent low post scorer with moves and ability to pop out on blocks.

Shawntrez Davis 6’8 PF Hapeville, GA Tri-Cities - Very long, wiry athlete who runs the floor, rebounds, and blocks shots. Showed the ability to score but needs strength. Good potential to reach top division one level if he continues to add strength and bulk obver next two years.

Tommy Burton 6’8 PF Montgomery, AL St. Jude - Long, lean, athletic forward with hops who really runs floor, rebounds, and blocks shots. He is good in transition, can get to the basket, or step out to 17-feet and knock face-up jumper.

Mickey Mitchell 6’7 WF Plano, TX Prestonwood Christian - Very athletic, very aggressive, lefty small forward with big time hops. Quick first step, he gets to the basket and finishes with contact. Good ball-handler can also post up and get on the glass where he finishes with both hands. Excellent free throw shooter. Knows how to play. Excellent passer. Good transitional scorer. Solid defender. Great competitor. Leader has total package.

Kejuan Johnson 6’6 PF Marietta, GA Wheeler - Very strong, athletic slasher and rebounder who runs the floor  and gets to the basket, where he finishes with contact. He is explosive in transition, can catch oop pass and finish with highlight dunks. He has a quick first step off dribble and is improving his three point jumper; something that is key to his future move to the wing. Still one of rising sophs elite talents!

Therell Gossier 6’6 PF Ft. Lauderdale, FL Cardinal Gibbons - Long, athletic front-liner who runs the floor, rebounds and dominates paint defensively with ability to blocks shots. Posts strong, nice jump hook over right shoulder lets him play big on offensive end of court.

Deion Dozier 6’6 PF Mobile, AL McGill-Toolen - Athletic power forward has excellent body, is very strong, and can really runs the floor. He is a very athletic, quick jumper, who is a relentless rebounder. Very raw offensive skills that gives him lots of room for improvement as he develops his game skills.

Dorian Chatman 6’6 PF Port Arthur, TX Memorial - Very long and athletic forward who runs the floor, can really rebound, and showed the ability to score inside especially off the glass. He has raw offensive skills, but played hard and showed excellent potential to become a face-up four in time.

D.J. Williams 6’6  WF Chicago, IL Simeon - He is a very long, but thin, athletic driver with handle to create smooth moves to the basket. He has the ability to step out and knock down jumper from around the perimeter or off the dribble. He is tough in transition and is a finisher on the break.

Danjel Purifoy 6’6 WF Brent, AL Bibb County - He is a very long armed, and surprisingly strong wing scorer who has solid handle to create dribble drive with highlights. He is a quick jumper who can get on the glass in a hurry. He plays hard and doesn't back down from anyone in half-court game.

Will Jackson 6’5 PF Athens, GA Athens Christian - Very long, lean athletic front-liner with big time hops and the ability to get to the basket. He is a very good shot blocker and rebounder who has raw offensive skills. He can step out and shoot. Questionable shot, but needs to improve his consistency!

Ed Porter 6’5 PF Gainesville, FL High - Long and lean athletic scorer who gets to the basket, rebounds and blocks shots. He is a good ball handler with right hand. He showed an ability to an step out and face up that points to good things in the future.

Gary McCrae 6’5 PF Cuthbert, GA Randolph Clay - He is a big, strong, athletic scorer who runs the floor, rebounds and blocks shots. He gets to the basket and finishes in traffic. Posts strong with moves. Can step out and face up

Jaylen Brown 6’5 WF Atlanta, GA Marietta Wheeler - Very long, lean, smooth, athletic slashing forward who runs the floor and scores well in transition. He has a quick first step, then slashes to the hoop and gets to the rim with either hand. He can take it off the glass and go end to end with his ball skills.

Lucas Johnson 6’5 WF Charlotte, NC Olympic =- Lean, athletic, slashing scorer. He runs the floor in transition and attacks the basket with a quick first step and finishes in traffic. Good rebounder with big time hops. He can step out and face up then hit mid-range J.

Jashawn Brooks 6’4 WF Augusta, GA Westminster - Long, lean, athlete who plays very hard and can get to the basket and finish with contact. He needs to get stronger and add lean bulk to his frame to reach potential athletic gifts promise.

Justin Wertner 6’4 SG Memphis, TN St. George's - He's a long , athletic guard who can get to the basket. He has excellent quicks and speed with ball in transition. He is an aggressive player on both ends. He plays hard but needs strength to complete the package.

King McClure 6’3 SG Dallas, TX Triple-A Academy Very strong, very athletic, scorer with big time hops and a terrific feel for the game. Plays hard and competes while being under control. Excellent handles with the ability to get to the basket and finish with contact. Attacks the rim in transition. Good passer and good defender. Quick first step with the ability to create his own shot.

Kain Harris 6’3 SG Chicago, IL Morgan Park He is a very athletic scoring guard with big time hops and the ability to get to the rim. He keeps "D" off balance with good midrange pull up game. He is a good passer in open court. He uses hesitation dribble to create drive to get to the rim. Plays hard and has 3-point range, but needs to work on consistence from around the arc.

Prince Ali 6’3 SG Miami, FL Pemberton Pines Charter - Long and lean scoring guard, who is an athletic slasher with the ability to get to the basket and finish out of transition. He showed ok stroke, but needs to make shot more of what he does to utilize athletic gifts.

Kevaughn Allen 6’3 SG Little Rock, AR North Little Rock - Another long wing who is a strong athlete with solid handles and the ability to get to the basket.  He uses his jumper and ability to knock down jumper from three to set up ability to attack hoop.

Marion Hunter 6’2 SG Memphis, TN Melrose Lean, but surprisingly strong athlete with solid ball handling skills and the ability to step out to 3-point range and hit jumper. He has good length and uses it to board from wing and to defend.

Sotonye Jamabo 6’1 SG Plano, TX West Long, lean, athletic wing with solid handles and ability to step out and shoot to 3-point range. He has good quicks and handle to create shot or drive in half-court or in transition. Oozes potential if he can add couple inches.

Lamonte Turner 6’1 SG Huntsville, AL Sparkman Long, but thin athlete with a quick first step and the ability to get to the basket. Skilled passer who can run the break off the glass. He can step out and hit open shot, but he really needs to add consistency on perimeter J. Strength key to future!

Bakari Evelyn 6'0 P/SG Bloomfield Hills, MI Southfield Christian - Scoring combo who attacks the basket and gets to the rim. Excellent transition player who is a good passer off break or dribble penetration. Just okay shooter, he needs to add range with consistency.

Antonio Blakeney 6’3 PG Sarasota, FL Cardinal Mooney - Long, lean, athletic point with the ability to pull up from midrange or step out to 3-point range. Strong rebounder with a quick first step and the ability to create his own shot. Good passer and floor leader who knows how to play. Quick jumper.

Kenny Lewis 6’1 PG Fayetteville, GA Southwest Dekalb - Long, thin, penetrating guard who can get to the basket or pass off the dribble. Excellent transition player he sees the court and delivers the rock . He can step out to 3-point range and knock down J to keep "D" honest.

Jaren Greenwood 6’0 PG Houston, TX Bellaire - Small, strong, quick guard with the ability to create his own shot. Excellent midrange game keeps "D" off balance off the dribble and he sets up drive with jumper from around the arc.

Jawun Evans 6’0 PG Greenville, SC Southside - Long, thin point with the ability to get to the basket and shoot or pass off the dribble. he loves to push it in transition and has court vision to move ball thru air as well as with dribble.

Jalen Perry 6’0 PG Louisville, KY Ballard - Very long, lean, athletic point with the ability to penetrate and get to the basket or step out and shoot. Can get to the basket and finish also. Quick first step allows him to get by defenders on penetration and then hit open man on the wing.

Reggie Reid 5’11 PG Harlem, GA High - Small, solid athlete with solid handles and good passing skills.
Jaquan McKennon 5’10 PG Bronx, NY St. Raymond's Small, strong, stocky, lefty with good handles and the ability to get to the basket and finish. Quick first step. Good passer off the drive. Solid defender.

Trevon Avery 5’10 PG Grand Blanc, MI High Long, thin, athletic guard with solid skills and the ability to score. He can push it in transition and sees open man on wing or cut. He has range to the arc and uses it to set up dribble drive.

Jerron Love 5’10 PG Fresno, CA Clovis West Very quick but small point guard with excellent handles and a tough mental approach to the game. He can knock down jumper from the arc or pull-up in the mid-range, but is at his best delivering the rock to open man off penetration or transition. Solid point for high majors to monitor.

Nych Smith 5’10 PG Memphis, TN White Station Small, lean guard with good handles and the ability to get to the basket. Solid passer both off the dribble or in transition. Solid shooter off the dribble will see range extend as he gets stronger and develops into point to watch!.
