Hofstra adds Hawaii transfer

According to XOFan's Chris Lawlor the Hofstra Pride continued to work the transfer wire today picking up a commitment from a
local standout guard. Shaquille Stokes, a 5-foot-11 guard from Lincoln High in Brookyn, chose the Pride after leaving Hawaii earlier this spring.
Stokes had plenty of options but ultimately chose the Pride over inquiries from Niagara, Penn State, Rhode Island, Fordham and Saint Peter’s.
Last season Stokes averaged 8.4 points and 2.2 assists in 20.1 minutes per game for the Rainbow Warriors. He has three years of eligibility left after sitting out the 2012-13 season, but could become eligible immediately if he is granted an NCAA hardship waiver. Stokes wanted to attend a school closer to his sickly grandmother.
Stokes is the third transfer landed by head coach Mo Cassara, which includes Taran Buie from Penn State and Jamal Coombs-McDaniel from Connecticut. Hofstra’s Class of 2012 feature high school players Jimmy Hall, Darren Payne and Dallas Anglin. Also Jordan Allen, a redshirt frontliner, re-joins the roster.
